NEW Workshops

I'm always looking for new ways to work with glass and recently I came across two.

The first Fossil Vitro, where you take leaves, dried flowers, cover them in glass powder frits, and sandwich them between fused glass and fibre board. At the last glass fusion workshop we played with this method, and I think got some good results. It is a long firing programme, taking 10+ hours. We started small with one inch squares in clear Tekta and then worked our way up to larger samples using white Tekta. More experimentation is required and I wonder if you can after the initial firing, TAC Fuse a clear Tekta on top of the Fossil Vitra finished item, as it does have a slight rough surface left from the fibre board. I will be offering this technique during regular glass fusion workshops - might be fun to play with Christmas Holly.

The second new way to work with glass is Glass Modelling using a medium which behaves like clay, produced by Glass Bird. For this workshop it would be good if you have attended at least one fused glass workshop and understand the basics. You can roll it, cut it into shapes, rolled out as a coil and basically handle like any other type of clay. Using the Glass Modelling Clay medium and incorporating frit powdered glass, you can get some amazing effects. The first workshop will be held Saturday 13th October, again keeping workshops personal there are only 3 places, so book early! All the costs of materials are included in the workshop fee.
